Treesort Info & FAQ

High & Dry...ad
"Out'n'About is a truly unique place. Part of it's uniqueness has to do with that it is a home grown and based business. There are no locks on the treehouse doors. It is not a Ramada or Hilton in the trees, but is a genuine four star Treesort catering to both the timid and adventurous, locals and travelers. The Treehouses are only part of the 36 private acres of pasture and woods, right next to Siskiyou National Forest land & old growth wilderness close by. We have a Morgan Horse breeding ranch along with our riding horse stable, two rocking horses, 4 dogs, & 1 cat usually running around the property. Very family oriented and friendly you can find everything from a calm peaceful solitude, to a sceaming ride on the ziplines or giant Tarzan Swing."

LOCATION: we are located in the southwestern corner of Oregon a few miles from the California border. Out'n'About is 10 to 16 minutes southeast of Cave Junction, OR, you may locate it on a road map off of Highway 199 southwest out of Grants Pass.

NEAREST AIRPORT, Medford, OR is serviced by United, Horizon through Northwest Airlines and
America West from Phoenix Az. The airport in Medford is 70 miles away from us and takes approximately one and a half hours to drive. United also fly's to Crescent City, Ca., also about an hour and a half drive, but it's a smaller airport and has less scheduled flights. The next closest airport to us is in Eugene, OR, about three and a half hours drive away. Our beautiful little Illinois Valley Airport is actually the closest one at only 15 minutes away, if you have your own aircraft and want to land at the closest facility. For more information from them directly call: (541) 955-4535 or (541) 479-0184

DO WE HAVE BUGS??? YES! we have different bugs at different times of the year. Most of the bugs are near the ground and are harmless, but if any particular kind of bugs are a problem for you, you might bring a repellent of your choice.

WEATHER, only newcomers and fools predict the weather in Oregon! During the summer months it is usually warm to hot days with relative low humidity and cool nights. It can rain at any time during the year here, but usually only rarely in July and August.

HIKING AND BIKING TRAILS are accessible right from our facility and many others are in close driving range.

DO WE HAVE AIR CONDITIONING, PHONES or TV in the rooms?? Sorry not available... We do have a phone in the Main Lodge that may be used by our guests if absolutely needed, and most cell phones seem to work here in spots, also we offer free wireless internet access if you have a laptop or need.

BATHROOMS, the SCHOOLHOUSE SUITE, MAJESTREE and the CABINTREE have full bathrooms, the TREEZEBO and FORESTREE have a toilet and sink. As part of the main lodge, both BALCONTREE and MASTREE have attached bathrooms as well. There is a centrally located bathhouse for everybody else quite close at hand. We furnish all bed linens and bath towels for our units. Please bring your own towels for after swimming in the fresh water pool on our property or the river near by.

FOOD, we provide a full breakfast for our guests during the main season. The breakfast can consis
t of fresh ground and brewed coffee, tea, hot cocoa, milk, juice, waffles, muffins, scrambled or other egg dishes, fresh fruit and cold or hot cereals. During off season we have cold and hot cereal, toast, coffee, juice, tea and hot chocolate that you serve yourself buffet style. We are located 10 to 15 minutes drive from a good selection of restaurants, supermarkets and deli's in Cave Junction.

COOKING, there are BBQ's, microwaves and stove top cookers located in designated cooking areas. We do have some dishes, table and cookware available, plus facilitree's to clean them. We do ask that you clean up after yourself to a reasonable extent please - we can clean the floors, bathrooms, change bed linen and towels when clearing a unit after you leave of course, but we know how 'stuff' happens, and expect to be notified if a major mess ensues that you might need help with while staying with us. Our treefairy crew appreciates it!

So what should I bring? Besides the obviously healthy and adventurous attitude you already have (or you wouldn't get this far), please bring a good sense of humor and whatever normal travel gear you might usually do anywhere else depending on your interests and activitrees, i.e.; clothing and footwear for both warm and cool weather, toiletries and accoutrements (like a bike, flashlight, camera, personal sound or video system and books, plus any consumables you like to have with you) etc. Sorry, no pets at any time is our policy for the benefit of all who are concerned.
